The Honeymoon's over!

So I was readin this article about how emigres to the US come to India to get married to a seeda sada Indian girl. They then make promises to send for them once they get back to the US and this seeda sada girl never hears back. We could all read this and go like "oh poor girl" (like we all always do to articles talking about such inhumane stories) if this happened to some random girl we have never seen or heard of. But no this is happening a lot seemingly. About 30,000 'reported' Note reported is the operative word here. Apparently there are many that go un-reported! Wow.

More of the article here - http://www.time.com/time/magazine/article/0,9171,1675399,00.html?cnn=yes

I guess I come from a land of my own where I imagine that this happens to only some random person is some remote area. I was shocked actually when I heard about things happening right under my nose and I was just disgusted!

I wish not to reveal relationships and identities. Also note I do not use the term 'relative' loosely here because they are related to me 'real close'. It could seem like I'm pulling these instances from my A%$ but No I'm not.

1. One of my very close relative was married to a family that harassed her to get more dowry and her father would just NOT oblige, which is good because I don't think anybody should! But the result was not so good, because this relative had no place else to go and ended her life. I never got a chance to meet her because I was not born by then, but I wish to have known here, maybe we could have been close.

2. My other close relative would treat his wife really bad. I thought marriage was something SO HUGE and you know precious. I mean you decide to live the REST of your lives with each other. But he would tell her things for instance I will not buy you any nice stuff like clothes or jewellery, go get it from your maternal home! so on and so forth, you get the pattern. This homemaker has no source of income and no where else to go. I am just flabbergasted!

3. Even with all the men I meet in the US, they believe that since they are here they will go back home and get married to a girl and get a hefty dowry, because he has a job here and he works here so he's precious! I am just disgusted! As it is you cannot get guys to commit to a relationship, and then this! But they do it, almost 75% (+or-) of them if not all of them I guess.

Yes I get it S%#$ happens or Life happens! got to live with it.

Bad hair day!

I've been thinking about this. Remember when you walk though a store and look at a shirt maybe and go "like who'd even buy that"? Or when you see someone wearing an outrgeous dress and you go like are you serious!?

If you think about it,if there were'nt a designer to design something 'you wouldn't be caught dead in that' there wouldn't be someone who'd actually be wearing it and vice versa.

I guess the same goes for everything in life.
- How can someone spend the rest of their lives doing THAT job?
- How can someone drive THAT car?
- Who is their right mind would have THAT haircut?

I have those days too. I walk into a store and implusively pick up a top maybe and then I'dproudly wear it the next day. As the day goes by and I keep catching glimpses of myself andI tell myself - no really, do I just have SO much money to keep picking up random stuff?
I have had the bad hair cut, horrfying shaped eyebrow, just what were you thinking I wasn'tmake-up and that's why when I look at someone in the same situation I understand. (But then again everyone is entitled to their own likes/dislikes. I mean it's the same thumb rule,if there was noone to use it it wouldn't be made).

If it happens two days in a row I think they just have 'unique' tastes :)
